Cotton breathes – let it air out between Wears.
The Signature Stripe Shirt is a full-sleeve khadi shirt with fine maroon and brown stripes on an off-white ground.
Handspun, handwoven khadi
The cloth starts as yarn spun by hand and is woven on a handloom, a few metres at a time. That is why the surface is never perfectly even: the small slubs and the gentle variation in the weave are the mark of the loom, not a flaw. Khadi breathes in a way mill cotton does not, which keeps it comfortable through an Indian summer, and it grows softer with every wash instead of wearing thin. Hand-spun yarn is softer and less tightly twisted than machine-spun yarn, and that is where much of khadi’s comfort comes from.
What makes the Signature Stripe Shirt different
The stripes are narrow and evenly spaced, the kind of classic shirting stripe that works as well under a blazer as on its own. Handspun yarn gives each line a slight, natural irregularity, so the pattern looks woven rather than printed.
Natural dyes
The colour comes from plant and flower dyes rather than synthetics, so it is gentle on the skin. A little colour may leave the cloth in the first few washes; after that the shade settles and slowly softens, which is how naturally dyed cloth is meant to age.
Fit and styling
Pair it with the Natural Raw Denim Pant or plain white trousers. Sizes S, M, L, XL and XXL.
Made by hand in India
Khadi is the cloth of India’s freedom movement, and it is still made the slow way. The yarn is spun by hand, the cloth is woven on a handloom without power, and every garment is cut and stitched by skilled tailors. Choosing khadi keeps that work alive: it supports the spinners and weavers whose craft has been handed down for generations.
